چکیده
Background: Worldwide, bacteremia is one of the serious infections that cause significant morbidity and mortality in hospitalized patients. A wide range microorganisms have been implicated etiology BSIs. Early detection these pathogens along with determination antimicrobial susceptibility patterns shown to improve treatment outcomes. The present study aimed determine microbiological profile BSIs a major tertiary care hospital North India.
Materials Methods: This cross-sectional conducted Department Microbiology Government Medical College Srinagar. Blood samples submitted brain heart infusion (BHI) broth for culture sensitivity over period year from September 2021 30th August 2022 were included processed per standard laboratory protocol techniques isolating identifying causing BSI. bacterial isolates was determined by disc diffusion method as Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) guidelines.
Results: Out 4260 blood samples, 1204(28.26%) obtained. Of isolates, 575(47.75%) Gram‑positive bacteria 468 (38.87%) Gram‑negative bacteria. Candida species isolated 161(13.7%) positive 32 showed contamination. most commonly identified organism Coagulase‑negative Staphylococcus (CoNS) (22.59%) followed aureus(17.69%), Acinetobacter spp. (13.70%), Klebsiella spp (10.13%) Escherichia coli (6.47%). Among gram-positive bacteria, maximum resistance seen methicillin azithromycin. No vancomycin linezolid. Most gram-negative bacilli multidrug-resistant. Maximum ampicillin(91.7%), amoxiclav (86.5%), ceftriaxone (88.5%), gentamicin (60.9%). Higher prevalence observed when compared bacteria.
Conclusion: Hence, empirical should be based on current knowledge profiles provided microbiology reports. results this warrant continuous monitoring clinicians judicious antibiotic policy mandate testing against setup so appropriate therapeutic measures taken at earliest.

متن کاملEpidemiology of Candida blood stream infections: experience of a tertiary care centre in North India.
INTRODUCTION Bloodstream infections due to Candida species are becoming a major cause of morbidity and mortality in hospitalized patients. The spectrum of candidemia has changed with the emergence of non-albicans Candida species, especially among critically ill patients. METHODOLOGY In a retrospective study (July 2009 to December 2009) on candidemia, various Candida species isolated from bloo...
